Blogging and Why Makeup is Important

Whew! It's been a long time since I've written a blog post, but I am more determined than ever to get back into it. I do love blogging. I was introduced to it by one of my co-workers many moons ago. She blogged mainly about her family and told me it was a wonderful way to keep other family members who didn't live near her up-to-date with the going's on with her family. I was amazed at the awesomeness (and dreadfulness) that someone could write about anything and on any subject! The bug hit me.

See, I've always loved to write. When I was in junior high and high school, I wrote my own little stories and lyrics to songs. I can't say that I'm any better than back then, but I still enjoy it. Writing has always allowed me to be creative and to escape into a world without problems (like bills, health issues, politics, etc.).

So, why did I chose to write about beauty products and beautiful things in general? There certainly isn't a shortage of those blogs and YouTube videos! Well, first, I love makeup! Makeup allows me to be creative, and I was creative with my makeup since I was a teenager. Boy, some of those looks were pretty wacko! Think new wave meets goth meets Cyndi Lauper and Madonna. Wish I had more pictures! I remember in school I was putting a dark brown lipstick on, and one of my classmates said, "You look like you kissed a mule!" 😄 Of course, that didn't stop me!!

Many people didn't understand why I would try different looks (and just look differently in general) but it was a creative outlet. And, many people still do not understand those of us who love makeup, but it's important to us. Not as important as food, shelter, etc., but important for us as a hobby. Do I think everyone should wear makeup? Absolutely not! If they choose to not wear makeup, that's totally O.K.! But some of us find joy in it and feel like it's an art form. It's important to us!

So, now that I'm blogging again, I am planning on posting something twice a week. I do hope you'll enjoy it. I have plenty of ideas, but would love to hear what you would like to see. Please leave me a comment!
