Let's Talk: Wet n Wild's Fast Dry Nail Polish in Gray's Anatomy

I have a love-hate relationship with nail polish.  I love the way it looks, but I hate waiting so long for it to dry!  Oh, I know I'm not the only one.  It seems that no matter what I use or how long I wait, it's never long enough, and I get creases in my nails.  I think I've tried most of the "fast dry" formulas to no avail.  Most of the time, I just have a hissy fit and take it off.

I hadn't tried any new nail polish in a long, long time.  So, when I saw this Wet n Wild nail polish, there were a few things that just made me buy it.  First of all, the title says "Fast Dry Nail Polish". Of course, the first thing that came to my mind was "Yeah, you'd call an alligator a lizard!!!"  But, then I was drawn in by the color "Gray's Anatomy."  (And, just for the record, no, I haven't seen the television show.  I hear it's good, and my mother loved it.)  On the website, the color looked like a gray color with a pink sheen.  My favorite combinations of colors is usually pink with black or brown or gray, so I thought I'd give it a whirl, and bought it for $0.99 on Wet n Wild's website.  You really can't beat that price with a stick!

First things first...here are a couple of pictures of the bottle:

The polish is made in Luxembourg, filled in China, and distributed by Markwims Beauty Products, Inc., in City of Industry, California.  Whew!  That polish has taken a ride!  Also, Wet n Wild says it is cruelty-free, so that's always nice to hear.

This color (or colors) of nail polish...well, I just couldn't stop taking a gander at it all day long when I was wearing it!  I think it's mostly gray, but has a pink, purple, and green sheen to it depending on what light you're in and how you move your fingers.  It's really interesting and pretty.  It's probably not a color everyone in the world would wear if they had the chance, but it's pretty and fun to look at during the day!

After I put my base coat on and let it dry, I put on my first coat of Gray's Anatomy. It went on VERY sheer! I was actually pretty surprised how sheer it was!

So, I let that dry, and put on another coat. It was still pretty sheer! You can't see it too well here in these pictures, but it was still pretty see-through.

So, I ended up with three coats and applied a top coat. I have to say, this actually did dry pretty fast! Since I had to put on five coats of polish (base coat, three layers of color, top coat), I figured I'd be taking this stuff off in the morning. But, it didn't crease! So, I was well pleased about that, and will try some more colors of this to see if this "Fast Dry" really works with other colors as well.

I'm thinking about trying either a white or black coat of color before starting with the Gray's Anatomy color next time. That perhaps would lessen the amount of coats to use and make the color show more.

My research showed "Gray's Anatomy" as a dupe for many other brand's polishes, For example, Deborah Lippmann's "Wicked Game"O.P.I.'s Katy Perry Collection Not Like the Movies, and Zoya's "Adina" all seem to be pretty close if not exactly alike.

So, all in all, I like this polish. It really does dry fast and is a pretty color. My one complaint is that it is too sheer, but I can live with that.

Do you have this polish? What do you think? Do you have any of the other ones that it claims to dupe? Did they dupe it well?

Here is a makeup look I did to sort of match the polish. I wish I had a better camera, but you can't squeeze blood from a turnip! :)

Let's Talk: Gold Bond Ultimate Rough & Bumpy Skin Daily Therapy Cream

So, rough and bumpy skin is not uncommon, and I've had it on my upper arms for years now. I usually try to find shirts that cover my arms, even when it's hot out (which is almost always in Memphis!). You can imagine how excited I was to try the Gold Bond Ultimate Rough & Bumpy Skin Daily Therapy Cream! It's a chemical exfoliant and moisturizer distributed by Chattem, Inc. (in Chattanooga, TN...SOUTHERN SHOUT-OUT!), but made in Canada. I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $9.97.

First things first...here are some pictures of the product:

So, nothing too exciting about that packaging (which is fine since it would probably just add to the price). It's a thick cream that I've been putting on my arms by hand (no body brush, cosmetic pads, etc.).

As you may be able to see, the packaging claims to have 8 intensive moisturizers with the following proven results:
  • "90% Experienced smoother, softer skin in just 1 week,
  • 72% Reduction in bumps/the appearance of KP in 4 weeks,
  • 89% Experienced consistently less bumpy & significantly softer skin in 4 weeks"
Also, Gold Bond explains that not only can you use it on arms and legs, but also elbows, knees and heels. It has a "gentle yet effective combination of AHA, BHA, and PHA exfoliates", is dermatologist tested, fragrance free, non-greasy, and non-irritating.  To see the list of ingredients and what they are, scroll to the bottom.

While I do think it has helped my skin a little (definitely not near any of the result percentages), it smells worse than pond scum. It is NOT fragrance-free. I've tried and tried to keep this on my skin every day like directed, but it smells so bad it could scare a rat off a cheesecake! To be honest, I don't see much of a difference than when I use a sugar scrub and lotion on my arms. And, the sugar is definitely a more pleasant smell!

I also completely disagree with their claim that this is a non-greasy formula. It's not as greasy as some...you know, the ones that make you feel like a greased up pig in a pig wrestling contest? No, not that greasy, but definitely sticky and just...yeck.

Have you tried this? Does it smell to you? Do you see a difference? Did I just get a bad batch? Let me know what y'all think! I'd love to hear your opinions.
